Ive recently had to go and have my eyes tested again, i noticed a little while ago that my vision wasnt as sharp as it had been so i decided to go get them tested.
Walking through tescos the other day they had a promotion on so I decided to bite the bullet and get it done. I dont pay for my tests because of tax credits and get help towards new glasses.
The bottom line is my eyesights got worse, Ive dropped from -1.25 to -1.75
The last couple of pairs Ive had have been bought online from www.glassesdirect.com Ive never had any problems with them but decided try another site this time.
Ive ordered these
http://www.wantglasses.co.uk/WebsitePages/A47-p-18.html?nextimage=145
and another pair
http://www.wantglasses.co.uk/WebsitePages/539-p-114.html
Ive got both pairs for £35!
Seeing as I get a voucher worth £35.50 to help against the cost, they’ve cost me £3 odd postage….
Bargain!
I’ll update as to what they are like when they arrive.
All Ive got to do now is post off my NHS voucher!
*UPDATE*
My card WAS charged despite having been told is wouldnt be!
Im now overdrawn facing a bank charge and the rest of the money I did have in my account has been swallowed up because someone in customer services cant do their job properly!
Im not at all impressed with this company, and if it wasnt for the fact that these are the only glasses Ive seen that I really like I would be cancelling my order!
Here’s a copy of the post Ive now put on www.moneysavingexpert.com and will be posting on other sites too.
I rang to check about the NHS vouchers and how I could process the order with one.
I was told to put the order in online, and that although the card details would be taken I wouldnt be charged if I emailed customer services and told them about my voucher. I was assured twice during this conversation that no charges would be made against this account until the voucher had been processed.
I did so, immediatly sent the email through to them and told them my order details.
A couple of hours later, I recieved one back:
Hi Emma,[/font]
Thanks for the email. I have noted this on the system and will wait for your form to come through. We will go ahead with your order in the meantime. I have told accounts not to process your payment however they informed the payment went through… so i have refunded this immediately to your card. Sorry about that!
Hope this ok. Please call or email if you have any more queries
All well and good, but now I have gone overdrawn, the little bit of money in my account that was supposed to be paying for my little boys nursery session this afternoon has been swallowed up and Im now being chaqrged for it!
All because someone from the technical department cant be bothered to add an extra option on the payments page!
After speaking to customer services Ive now got to go and request a bank statement from my bank, (and pay for it!!) go and post it through to them and have to wait for t to come into my account. This Im told could take up to 10 working days!!!!!
Im disgusted! I rang and checked this information before putting an order in in good faith.
Now Im stuck at home with no money and a little boy who’s very upset that he cant go to nursery this afternoon.
Not impressed at all!!!!!!
Not really a good impression to give a new customer is it
The worst thing is that they have my contact details yet didnt even have the decency to ring and explain the situation themselves. Just sent a fairly flippant email!!!!!!!!!!
*Second update!*
In the end I actually went into town, borrowed some money from my other half and went and paid the money into the bank so I didnt get any bank charges. Highly imcinvenient especially with two toddlers in tow!
The glasses arrived quite quickly (Although I suspect this was because of the stink I kicked up more than anything!) On the day they arrived I got a call from customer services, “just to check everything was ok” and the guy I spoke to casually mentioned they had read my comments on the money saving expert forum…..
Yup, I said, nothing but the truth though. He then replied that it was a mistake that I’d been charged, although I find this hard to believe seeing as the site uses and automatic payment system, so every time someone places an order the payment is taken straight away. Unless a voucher code is created for NHS vouchers to be used I cant see how it will be stopped from happening again, but meh! lol
All in all the glasses have arrived, they arent bad quality for the price and I suppose if I had been paying for them I would have been quite happy with the site.
All in all I would reccomend people using the telepone ordering system if they are going to order using an NHS voucher….

I also am having problems with wantglasses.co.uk.
I ordered and paid for two pairs of glasses almost a month ago.
I have been given excuse after excuse as to their whereabouts.
Sent emails, and made a number of phone calls to them.
I was first told they had been sent to me, then thast they must have been lost in the post, then that they were still in the lab awaiting for the lens for one pair to arrive.
Every time I phone them, I get conflicting stories, and promises that don’t materialize…
“you’ll have them in two working days”… “I’ll have them sent out to you immediately” etc. But STILL they don’t arrive!
I’ve now taken advise from the Trading standard office, and sent them a recorded delivery letter, giving a deadline date for my glasses to arrive by.
If they don’t come by this date, they must return my payment and my expenses, in chasing them up.
I would recommend NOBODY ONE USES THIS UNRELIABLE COMPANY !!

Funnily enough Sophie appears to be the only person not having problems with her glasses, she also has the wantglasses website as her URL. Odd that isnt it?????????
Anyone else seem to think that maybe Sophie works for them?????
November 19, 2008 at 3:10 pm |
oh, and sophie, what about the third and fourth instance? I get loads of comments from pople complaining but more often than not I dont publish them as they are all saying the same thing

I am having problems with this company as well. Ordered a pair of glasses at the beginning of November and when i asked them about the delivery date twice, got two mails from them with excuses like, their systems being down and the supplier sending them the wrong frame. The last mail i got from them sounds like this, I am looking into this for you, and will get back to you immediately. This is 10 days ago and they do not reply to my mails any more.

Well, I should come with this update.
I received my glasses this Saturday and everything is ok. I think if, Wantglasses work on being more informative about the delivery status, then there would be less confusion and angry customers.

Well, i really wished i had red this web page before i ordered a pair of glasses from them. I ordered a pair with a tint. Well my glasses arrived a bit knocked around and no tint. So i decided i wanted a refund. I told them this on their web help page. They told me to return the glasses to there unit 3 address. so i sent them 1st class. I have waited now over 40 days for a refund. ive been told conflicting stories about the reason for this. I even got told on 1 occasion that they were coming back to me in the post the next day.lol. Well yesterday they have told me that I will get a refund for 22.50 out of the 29.00 I paid wich included me sending the glasses back, which I feel that they should pay for as this was their mistake.
I recieved another email off them this morning telling me to look at the terms and conditions page.
Well ill be telling as many people not to use them.

Hi, ordered off wantglasses.co.uk and can report no problems. Glasses are great and price was good. Waited 7 days which i think is acceptable, overall v pleased. Would recommend to all my glasses wearing friends with confidence. Am suspicious that all the comments on here seem to be bad?? Ha maybe its just me. Have a grest xmas everyone x

Hi EmmaD, thanks for the comments, its just unfortunate that the only comments (Apart from one person who used a wantglasses email address and listed her site as wantglasses.co.uk DOH!)I’ve had have been bad. Glad you had such a good experience with them!

I also wish I had read this before ordering. I have tried ringing but no one picks the phone up which started alarm bells then I emaled and I get a email back saying they will look into where my glasses are. I said they had 48 hours to cme back to me with the latest and of course they didn’t so I have asked to cancel and credit my account and……surprise surprise they haven’t acknowedged this so I’ll go to my credit card company to get back the money. Why do companies do this and not deliver what they promise??
March 19, 2009 at 7:12 pm |
Wow I wish I had read this a month ago!
Well I oredered my glasses 3 weeks ago, spoke to them pre-order and explained the NHS voucher and that I had broken my existing glasses and really needed a quick service. I was assured a 7 day turn around. Great I thought. WRONG.
7 days came and went, I am housebound without my specs(I have a V poor sight without specs).
I called and called, emailed and emailed. If I went into each detail, I would be here for ages. Safe to say that I also suffered repeated false promises of mailed, lost by Royal Mail, mailed again, given fake Royal Mail tracking numbers etc etc etc.
I have learnt a couple of details for your reference tho: the two people who face all the phone enquiries are Emma and Katey(coincidence Emma? you decide) When you ring up, don’t go with option 3 on the automated system because they never pick up, try option 2, it’s the new business connection and they tend to answer that one.
Well, i’ve been housebound for three weeks now, still not got my specs and still being given fake tracking numbers, got another one today!
I’m compiling a similar email to send to Martin Lewis and moneysavingexpert.com this evening.
Be warned everyone, THIS IS A BAD ONLINE COMPANY.
Regards,
Paul.

hi, left some messages on here but not sure if i like my name being applied to anything????? there is ACTUALLY hundreds…if not thousands of emmas out there?????? jesus get a grip???? ;(
April 16, 2009 at 7:53 am |
I know there are loads of Emmas out there (Myself being one of them) I was saying that the Emma who had left the only positive comment on the post that Ive recieved also had her website set as wantglasses.co.uk.
Would you like me to remove your comments? This post isnt a with hunt against wantglasses, Ive just posted in my personal blog about the problems I had with them and other peole have found it and commented about service they have recieved. Unfortunatlely as I say,, the only person to have had good servi\e from them appears to be someone who works for them, why else would they set wantglasses as thier webpage?
Contact me if you want them removed though. As for the get a grip comment, I dont understand what I should be getting a grip of?
April 17, 2009 at 12:20 am |
Had been waiting a few weeks for my specs, had read some of these comments and thought i was going to have big problems.Glasses arrived and i have to say they look great, service a bit slow but good specs. I would use this company again, just.
May 13, 2009 at 8:44 am |
I have the same problem as you guys. I made an order already a month ago and despite many attempts, I have yet not received any reply to my emails. I haven’t called the company yet since I don’t feel like spending a lot of money on phone calls abroad.
I am starting to worry and will probably contact Finnish Consumer Authority soon for consultancy.
This is first time having trouble with online-shopping.
May 29, 2009 at 8:20 pm |
2 months!!!!!! 2 whole months ive been waiting for my pair of glasses. Emailed them 5 times and only replied on the 6th email I sent. And it said it was out of stock for two months, well, why didn’t they put a notice on the website or contact me. It’s useless, stay away if I were you!!!!
June 4, 2009 at 10:43 am |
I really wish I’d read this website too.. I’m never one for posting reviews but want glasses have absolutely TERRIBLE customer service and my glasses have now taken 2 months as well and i STILL havent received them!! I have called them like about twice every single week but they keep making false promises that “its on its way back from the supplier”, and they have been saying this for over a month now!!! This company should be shut down – is there any way we can report this because it seems to me like they’re just taking people’s money and I’m left wondering if they’re ever going to be delivered now! Unless we actually give them a proper warning that we’re going to report them etc, they’re not going to do anything about it!
June 9, 2009 at 6:45 pm |
i have had nothing but trouble with them!!!have been waiting almost 4 months for my glasses!!!!and they have taken my money!!!!they keep sending me conflicting stories all the time.NEVER use this sitee!!!
June 23, 2009 at 10:13 am |
I have been trying for two months to get a refund
for glasses I ordered. After a month I was notified that the frames I chose were not available. They asked me to chose another frame but again after a furthur 10 days I was told they also were unavailable.I then asked for a refund but they sent me frames which were totally unsuitable. I immediatly returned them. My only course of action now is to take them to the Small Claims Court.
June 27, 2009 at 11:49 am |
Brought a pair of glasses from these people, sent them back under the refund policy two months ago, still waiting for my refund. Endless stream of excuses and unkept promises from them. Have now applied for a chargeback via my credit card company and would encourage others to do the same.
